Deborah Hargrove, LCSW (she/her) is both a therapist at and the administrative assistant at Upaya Counseling. Deb sees adults and adolescents via individual and group therapy. She is also the first person new clients interact with on our team, and she plays a very important role. She knows how challenging it can be to search for behavioral health care and works diligently, delivering our client screening and scheduling process as well as other therapist support services.

Deb has worked in several clinical settings with children, youth, and families, both within community non-profits and private practice. She is passionate about helping youth and young adults learn emotional intelligence and emotion regulation skills to increase their quality of life at home, school, and in relationships. In 2012, she began providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with individuals and leading skills training groups. She continued delivering DBT through 2016, while also supporting children in schools and in her private practice. She is currently on the DBT Team at Upaya and is core certified in DBT by the state of Missouri's Department of Mental Health. She specializes in teaching coping skills to assist with anxiety, depression, interpersonal skills, mindfulness, coping to change, and anger management. She also enjoys helping parents learn to regulate their emotions to improve parent-child relationships.

Deb spends most of her time homeschooling her own children: Lucy, Daisy, and Audrey. When they aren't doing school around the kitchen table, they are doing puzzles, spending time with family, or out exploring new playgrounds and splash pads. Deb is actively involved as the Director of their homeschool hybrid program and instructs the 1st & 2nd grade class.
