Kristen Krischke, PLPC (she/her) has an MED from the CACREP-accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UMSL. She completed the requirements for a Graduate Certificate in Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling. She completed her field experience training at Upaya Counseling with an emphasis on Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She is currently working toward her state licensure as a professional counselor under the supervision of Upaya’s Founder & Director, Dr. Amanda Bittner.

Kristen provides individual and family therapy to adolescents and adults. She is on the DBT Team at Upaya and is core certified in DBT by the state of Missouri's Department of Mental Health. She furthers her professional development through self-study; she is currently focused on the works written by DBT's developer, Marsha Linehan, PHD. She is especially helpful to clients struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship issues, minority stress, emotion dysregulation, suicidal ideation, and non-suicidal self-injury.

Through her endeavors with children and adolescents in the school setting, Kristen found when drawing from a strength-based approach that mutually accounted for systemic barriers, students were able to attain goals previously imagined as impossible. This inspired Kristen to venture beyond the classroom to the counseling field in hopes of broadening the positive impact that comes when engaging people holistically. Kristen believes in the power of therapy to foster a congruence between the person as an individual and a community member. She strives to create a safe and validating environment to offer an avenue of empowerment for people to attain their unique potential. She deeply values partnering with folks and using the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for healing and growth.

In her free time, Kristen loves spending time with family and friends as well as exploring the outdoors, reading, cooking, and doing nail art. Please reach out if you are interested in doing therapy with Kristen by contacting us below or calling 314-252-0675.
