Blake Russell, LPC (he/him) is one of our therapists here at Upaya Counseling, LLC. In 2013, while working in Los Angeles at a private school for teenagers with emotional disturbances, he discovered his passion for helping others navigate the complexities of being human. Since 2014, Blake has been in the St. Louis area working in various roles within the fields of education and mental health. Blake utilizes various treatment approaches to fit the needs of each individual client; he is a member of the Upaya DBT Consultation Team. He understands the notion that seeking therapy services can be a daunting task which is why he stresses the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
Blake works with adolescents 14+, adults, and older adults; he provides individual, family, and group therapy. He is skilled in working with women regarding various concerns, and he finds a particular fulfillment in working with men given that societal pressures indirectly teach men to suppress their feelings. In addition, helping individuals explore their gender identity and/or sexual orientation in a safe and nonjudgmental environment is a treatment area Blake finds very rewarding.
In his free time, Blake enjoys various forms of exercise, trying new foods, listening to podcasts, traveling, playing video games, and engaging in home improvement projects. Please reach out if you are interested in doing therapy with Blake by contacting us below or calling 314-252-0675.
