Anna Varghese, PLPC (she/her) began providing virtual therapy with Upaya Counseling, LLC from the start of the practice in October 2020. She is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor under the supervision of Upaya's Founder and Director, Dr. Amanda Bittner. Anna attended Richmont Graduate University, a CACREP-accredited graduate program in Atlanta, GA to earn her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, where she also elected to earn two additional certificates in Trauma Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. Anna was awarded the Hanshew Clinical Excellence Award, and she became a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in August 2020.
Anna works with adolescents and adults; she provides individual, family, and group therapy. Anna is on the DBT Team at Upaya. She frequently attends training seminars for professional development. Some of the most recent have included DBT training under the expertise of Dr. Bittner as well as through the MO Department of Mental Health (DBTmo). Additionally, she furthers her professional development through self-study; she is currently focused on the works written by DBT's developer, Marsha Linehan, PHD.
Anna and her husband, Jordan, moved to St. Louis in May 2020, and they have loved exploring this new city! Even though a move was challenging during the global pandemic, she has enjoyed trying new take-out menus (Current favorites: Gramophone and Olio), strolling through the Botanical Gardens, and visiting the St. Louis Zoo. She also enjoys video chatting with friends/family and learning creative systems to organize her home.
